Most people have acne in their teens, some in their adulthood, but today’s Skincare Spotlight follows Constanza Concha (“Cotty”) who has fought cystic acne since she was only six years old. Now 18, she’s been able to cultivate a huge following on Instagram, spreading skin positivity and showing the world we are more than our skin. I don’t know about you, but when I was a child I would have a nervous breakdown if my shoes weren’t tied right, let alone having the wherewithal to cultivate a positive movement from my biggest insecurity.

Let’s all take a page of wisdom from Cotty, by celebrating ourselves, each other and all that makes us beautiful and unique - not despite our skin, but because of it. xoxo -Kristin

Name: Constanza Concha

Age: 18

Skintype: Cystic Acne

IG Handle: Skinnoshame

At what age did you develop skin issues?:

At 6 years old! It turned into cystic acne when I was 9.

How did you feel/perceive acne and rosacea before? After getting diagnosed?:

I knew that "it was common" but couldn't understand why people rejected me a lot because of it! I was more focused on the physical pain than other people's comments.

How did you come to #embraceyourface, “imperfections” and all?:

My family educated me to embrace acne! They gave me all the support, until I found this little corner on Instagram where I met amazing people. So, I decided to share my story alongside them!

What are your ride or die skincare products?:

I can't live without a gentle but strong cleanser, spf and any kind of chemical exfoliator (in cleansers, masks, serums, creams, etc).

What is the best way you’ve found to manage your acne or rosacea?:

Managing my stress and anxiety! I have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) so that kind of affects way more my skin than others since the anxiety is permanent and happens every minute of my life. Doing yoga or even breathing can help a lot!

Any final thoughts or words of advice?

Our environments are the ones which will define our self-view! Searching for a healthy environment without toxic opinions will make you understand that you aren't the problem and neither is your skin!
