Back in May I had the amazing privilege of collaborating with Danielle, a fellow rosacea warrior and skin positivity mover and shaker. She has the same type of rosacea as myself and her journey with it is truly inspiring. In today’s post, we’re going to keep it real and learn more about Danielle and her philosophy on living life to the fullest with rosacea.

Name: Danielle Daly

Age: 26

Skintype: I have rosacea with red bumps and spots that’s associated with acne (papulopustular rosacea)

Instagram: @dannieghxo

At what age did you develop skin issues?

I was 19 when my rosacea started on my left cheek, then it spread to my chin, nose, and then my other cheek and forehead. The acne-like cysts and spots came much later, roughly when I was 20/21.

How did you feel/perceive acne and rosacea before? What about after getting diagnosed?

I had never really known what rosacea was. As for acne, I genuinely believed it was only found at the pubescent stage and maybe an adult would get the odd little spot.

After I was diagnosed with rosacea, I researched it and when you type in rosacea on Google, it’s shocking. It shows extremely severe rosacea and for me, when I first saw that, I was so worried that that’s what mine would grow into. Luckily it hasn’t.

How did you come to #embraceyourface, “imperfections” and all?

Instagram, weirdly. Even though Instagram can be such a deterrent for positive thoughts. I think by following such inspirational accounts, it flooded my feed with positive role models and the thought that I wasn’t alone in what I was also suffering with.

What are your ride or die skincare products?

At the moment, I use @skinshopofficialuk. I love their cleanser and Silver Serum. The Silver Serum helps with my acne. It fights bad bacteria and leaves the skin stronger and smoother. I’ve seen a heavy improvement to my skin texture.

What is the best way you’ve found to manage your acne or rosacea?

I just try to keep calm, which for me is important. I definitely notice that stress is a trigger for me. So keeping calm when I have a breakout is important for me, as I could end up with a worse breakout.

Any final thoughts or words of advice?

it’s still quite hard sometimes to manage rosacea emotionally, but you just need to stay strong and believe that you are and should be respected and loved regardless of having skin struggles! From what I’ve learnt, you and I are most definitely not alone with the issues we face. So stay true to yourself and don’t take no sh*t from anyone!
