Fall Favorites: Things to Feel Cozy

Fall Favorites: Things to feel cozy

The temperature hasn’t officially reached cool weather status here in Texas, but I’ve already spent the week pulling out sweaters and thrifting warmer clothes for the boys. Days have still been filled with splash pad fun and water table mayhem (90 degrees in October is no joke). Summer has been drawing out and slowly exhaling its last breath. So, in anticipation of a different kind season, here’s a few fall favorites - all cozy and hygge-esque and passing the time lounging in pajamas. Because after all, it is the season of comfort.

1. To wear: The Oversized Alpaca Crew

2. For the home: Dunes Candle

3. For chapped lips: Au Naturale Lip Oil

4. For the feet: Knee High Socks

5. To sleep in: pact Sleep Tee

6. To carry all the things: Nisolo Canvas Tote

7. To feel sophisticated: James Oxford

8. To nourish dry skin and hair: Tahitian monoi oil

Bonus (if I had disposable income): Boiled Wool Shawl Collar Jacket

For more behind the scenes fall action, here are a few things to do once the cold weather hits:

Watch the Annual Monarch Butterfly Migration. Technically classified as a “threatened phenomenon” by the International Union for Conservation and Natural Resources, we have the privilege to witness millions of butterflies journey across multiple national parks, including Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Muir Woods National Monument, Shenandoah National Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park, and Zion National Park. Grab a picnic basket and head to your nearest park to camp out, enjoy the fresh air, and observe fall festive butterflies.

Go for a run (or walk). Check out sites like active.com or race-find.com to see upcoming races near you. Great for the fitness minded or those seeking casual festive fun, there’s likely a race (or several) happening near you. An added bonus: many support charities and research groups. Personally, I’m training for the Hallowine Run // food + wine + costumes = happy Kristin.

Practice Kalsarikännit. Pronounced “kal-sa-ri-kan-eet” the Finnish term is described as drinking at home in your underwear with no intention of going out. Or as we Americans call it - Netflix and chill. Since it’s fall, I’ll go ahead and suggest wearing the pact sleep tee mentioned above, pouring a glass of wine, and curling up with Julie & Julia (because who doesn’t love Meryl Streep).

Drink Golden Milk Cocoa. This homemade recipe has Ayurvedic properties to reduce anxiety and improve clarity and focus. It’s also warm, energizing, and perfect to curl up on the couch with. The recipe calls for milk, but I make mine vegan and it’s just as good.
